July 4th 2009 – St Peter’s Church, St Albans

'‘The Power of Nature
For the last concert of this anniversary season the St Albans Chamber Choir will be performing for the first time in many years in St Peter’s Church, St Albans, with a wide-ranging programme of music from different periods that turns to the natural world for inspiration.

A Parliament of Owls was composed by Karl Jenkins to a text by his wife, Carol Barratt, who is also a noted composer, particularly of piano music for education. We are very privileged that both Karl Jenkins and Carol Barratt will not only attend the concert, but also accompany the choir in this performance as piano duettists.
A hugely varied programme that reflects and celebrates the power and beauty of the natural world, including works by Jenkins, Gibbons, Bennet, Chilcott, Elgar, Vautor, Lauridson, Dubra, and Richard Rodney Bennett.
Featuring:

A Parliament of Owls
Weather Report
Les Chansons des Roses
